Who We AreThe term redemption is only used when referring to the emergence of darkness to light. One who has never experienced (the bitterness) servitude cannot experience the (sweet) taste of redemption, The main point of Redemption is the freedom that comes from within the servitude itself: If the Children of Israel had not been in servitude, they could not experience everlasting freedom: And when they were enslaved, the servitude itself brought about the redemption and from within the darkness burst forth the light, and not from any other place. And also the Sages said (Yalkut Shimoni, Hoshea) ‘Israel said before the Almighty, Master of the World, when will You redeem us? said the Almighty when you will be at the lowest level [of Holiness], at that hour I will redeem you '.
You find that when Yitzhak (Isaac) was born everyone said ' A son was born to the servitude ', For so said Hakadosh Boruch Hu to Abraham ' that as strangers will be your offspring ', and Yitzhak was not but a father for the liberated and free nation. And also you find by Yitzhak when he was bound on the altar, it appeared as if the Abraham’s offspring would be obliterated from the world, instead the Akeida (binding) became a ‘knife’ that prepared the ‘foodstuff’ that provided life and eternity for all of his future generations by its merit. And also when Yaakov donned his brother Esav’s cloak, that allowed him entrance to Yitzhak to receive the blessings, he was apprehensive, saying ‘for I will appear as a deceiver and will bring upon myself a curse and not a blessing ', and when he left from there, he left laden with blessings for him and his offspring forever. Similarly we find that all troubles and future distresses of Yaakov’s offspring were and will be transformed to salvation and light. |
Our HistoryAs great as the magnitude of the darkness into which they are thrown so will they emerge from it. So too, the future redemption will burst forth and radiate from within the darkness,. In the hour of that all hearts will panic, supposing that all hope is lost, behold His glory will shine. When? In the month of Nissan, that is established for redemption for all generations. And all darkness and distress that Israel experiences in this month is presumed and understood that it is only the development of the redemption. Furthermore, the Sages also said in the Talmud: ' this month is for you ', This is what is written in Tehilim 'for the counsel of Hashem forever will stand ' and etc. ', ' Fortunate is the nation that Hashem is their God and etc. ‘ When the Almighty assigned in His world the beginning of the months and years (that is the connotation of ' the counsel of Hashem forever will stand'), and when He chose Yakov and his sons He established for them the first month for redemption, the month in which the Children of Israel were redeemed from Egypt, and in it the future they will also be redeemed etc... ', and in it was born Yitzhak, and in it he experienced the Akeida, and in it Yaakov received the blessings, and in it was alluded to Israel that it is the start of the redemption, as it says 'it is the first you of the months of the year'.
